about us

Welcome to Myrtle and Maudes! A unique farm market located in Williamsburg Michigan on Orchard View Farms ~ a fourth-generation cherry and apple farm!

The Farm:

The first cherry trees on the farm were planted in the early 1940s by Bill and Marcella Butler. What began as a small hobby farm soon grew into a lifelong calling when their daughter, Roseanne, and her husband, Keith Hubbell, purchased additional land in 1964.

Over the following decades, Keith and Roseanne raised their five children on the farm, planting more trees with each passing season and steadily expanding the operation. Their youngest son, Paul, developed a deep love for farm life. After marrying his wife, Sue, the couple became co-owners alongside Keith and Roseanne, continuing the family tradition.

In the late 1980s, Paul and his father further expanded the farm with the purchase of additional acreage and the planting of the first apple trees. As Paul and Sue raised their four children—three daughters and a son—they also continued to grow and strengthen the family business.

In 2017, Paul and Sue became the sole owners of Orchard View Farms, which today encompasses 250 acres of cherries and 50 acres of apples. Their youngest son, Weston, who shares the same passion for farming, now works alongside Paul in managing the 300-acre farm—carrying the family legacy into the next generation.

The Market:

Sue and her middle daughter, Sadie—better known as Myrtle (Sadie) and Maude (Sue)—have always cherished small-town farm life. Although both pursued professional careers as registered nurses, they each maintained a creative outlet on the side. What began as a small “side gig” allowed them to design, create, and sell pieces that reflected their shared passion for all things vintage and unique.

In 2021, the two decided to turn their long-held dream into reality. They had envisioned owning a market for years, and as the cherry industry—and small-town farming in general—reached a pivotal turning point, diversifying beyond traditional farming became essential to the continued success of Orchard View Farms.

Myrtle and Maudes is far from a traditional farm market. Run by the mother-daughter duo, the market offers their homegrown produce, freshly baked goods, and soft serve ice cream treats, alongside Michigan-made products, locally crafted gifts, antiques, redesigned furniture, and vintage décor. Their mission is to share their story through social media, educate both locals and tourists, and give visitors a firsthand look at where the “cherry on top” of their sundae truly comes from.

What began with four children has now grown into a lively family of nine grandchildren—six boys and three girls. The family’s vision continues to expand, creating new opportunities and experiences for the community to enjoy. Guests can take an educational wagon ride through the orchards with Farmer Paul, shop for the perfect gift, savor a unique ice cream treat topped with a homegrown cherry, let the kids run and play, and even meet Patsy Cline — the farm’s beloved mini-highland cow along with Willie & Waylon – the sweet dwarf goats.

There’s always something new and exciting to discover—and a memorable day waiting to be made—at Myrtle and Maudes.

Awards:
